| Graduates in Pharmacy from the University
of Paris, Patrice and Danielle Soyer, specialists in the development
and production of maintenance products for contact lenses, founded
the Contapharm pharmaceutical laboratories in 1981.

Backed by their savoir-faire,
and in collaboration with eye specialistsand opticians, they
identified a problem specific to women who wear contact lenses:
ocular, or peri-ocular, intolerance to traditional
skincare and makeup products (including hypo-allergenic ones).
This problem affects more than one in two women, has no direction
relation to a substance identifiable by patch, is often linked
to a natural predisposition (skin type, fragile eyes, hypo-lacrymal
secretion, age, heredity…) or to
conditions of modern life (stress, pollution, agressive products,
hard water, dieting, unhealthy eating |
habits, air-conditioning, smoking…).
By crossing the indepth study of eye and skin physiology with knowledge
gleaned from biomaterial used in contactology, they came up with the
concept of bio-inertia* formulations.
Initially applied to makeup products for contact lens wearers, the
concept has progressively spread to all skincare and makeup products
for those with sensitive eyes and skin.
